Introduction

Hello! this is my first attempt to categorize everything that I am making while getting my Masters in Industrial Design. I am attending ASU, but a lot of the things I am making have nothing to do with school. Most are creations created out of the stress and pressure from classes and assignments, creating unique lil diamonds at the Tech Shop or at home.

Leather snake cuffs

One of the last things I cut at the Tech Shop.. This winter is my time to play with this idea.

This is where I left off.

I took it to the back yard and tried to stamp something snake like

I like it a lot.. I later went back to the leather store, bought dyes, paints, and sealers. I also found a bunch more stamps on Amazon.com. I really hope I can make this lucrative. I'm going to look at other species of snakes even dragons!

Thin red line shirts, decals

My last day at the Tech Shop before I go home for Winter Break!!  why cant the Tech Shop be in Tucson, Im gonna be super antsy until I go back.
I spent a lot of time making THIN RED LINE, THIN BLUE LINE and EMS Super Hero decals. for Christmas orders.
Making the shirts was Exciting cause I felt like I was doing them for the first time again. Then again these were more difficult than the Ingress shirts because these involved two colors. AND I only had 3 shirts, I could not mess up on either of them. I had to get it right 3 times.
The Thin Blue Line Super man shirt was the first one I did.

The second shirt was the Thin Red Line

Third and mostly scary was the EMT/EMS super hero shirt. The serpent over laps a star and a stripe. It was rumored that the vinyl would still stick but I wasn't 100% sure.

But it did!  Also the shirt is Navy, but it looks black.

Also I cut out this frame out of styrene that I found in the trash. Perfect for what I needed
I made this to fit 60 poptabs. This will allow me to polish 60 poptabs at once instead of one at a time.  AMAZING IMPROVEMENTS!

*SNEEK PEEK* I was also able to laser cut out two snakes out of leather to try out a new project during my break

Vortex Hand mixer model

After this crazy thing 3D printed I had to glue it all together.
My professor said, this is to be a simple white model. Nothing more nothing less. but I can't do that I have to have something cool. So I went to Ace Hardware, got a spring, and utilized it in my project. I wanted it to actually move. I don't like fake things. To my surprise super glue and 3D printed plastic, and Acrylic were perfect for each other.

After everything was glued, it was very fun to play with. my spring button works and feels fun.
This is how it looks in KeyShot

3D Printing issues

I needed to 3D print my model, because I made far too difficult for a router to cut out. All my classmates made their products at school with the shop and its shop teachers, but I got frustrated with the machines and programs, so I said EFF IT! I'll make it myself at the tech shop.

Unfortunately for me.. all 3 of the 3D printers were crapping out on me. It failed about a dozen times on me before. I owned all 3 of the printers. All the DCs couldn't figure out what was wrong. The same thing kept happening. It would start printing on air, the gears inside stopped turning the plastic through.  This picture is the farthest it got and it failed twice.
This is a sample of the mess I had made before it printed 1 part! it was such a miracle! I was there for at least 6 hours.. I went home after that night..  really worried about how I was going to print the next 8 pieces.

Two days later... SUCCESS!!! a new brand of 3D printing filament was bought and used. It was a weird Gold color.. I LOVE GOLD!

I was so excited to see that it had printed 3 of my buttons.. I knew it was safe to continue with more pieces.

And Magically the old filament of pink was working. I was working on 2 machines at once.  Frowned upon but no one uses the 3D printers.

Also while I was using 2 of the 3D printers I also was using the Vinyl cutter, and a laser cutter :p

I was afraid the stars on the stickers I made weeks ago were too small and wouldn't stick. so I made the stars bigger.

Hallelujah! This was so scary! it went four hours without messing up once! I was sad and scared to leave it. it was around 4am and I couldn't be there anymore. It had an hour left. A DC said they would watch it for me. It was like trusting him with a small child.
....
The next day I came back and printed the other half of the ring.. Which was actually today, this is a pic of the second ring.

All in a days work!!!  I made some Decals, I 3D printed my project for class, and I stained wood for the first time and cut out 28 tags.

While I was waiting for my sister to come to Phx and for a print to finish, I an hour and a half to print this scorpion. I found it on thingiverse.com this scorpion moves his hands and tail, and can hold pens in his hands.

Staining wood

First time ever staining wood!!
My first mistake was going into a wood shop in Phoenix wearing a U of A shirt, on a rival football game day.. No one in the store wanted to help me! normally I prefer no one bothering me while I shop around in a hardware store, but this was the first time shopping for wood related stuff.
This is my first stained wood.. I hope I did it right.

The laser was preset to a different Z axis setting. This normally never happens. sadly I let it go for 5 of the wooden tags.

I got 28 tags out of this pieces of wood :)
I really like this piece. I think it has the best shot at being lucrative.

I am wondering if I need to add any "Finishing" gel to the wooden pieces.  If I wasn't wearing the U of A shirt, the men might have told me something about that.

Leather project

I saw this cool wrap around cuff on pinterest. I kinda have a bunch of leather hanging around cause I sometimes have Tandy addictions..
I just cut out a long triangle for practice.. and I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to engrave it.. It came out nice. I like it but I think its tail is too short.

Last minute I had an idea. The lil tail kinda looks like a tongue. What if I made the whole thing look like a snake?
I had about 2 minutes to cut this and it took 5 minutes.. the guy who came after me was kinda upset...
Sorry.. There is not enough laser time near the end of the semester.
This looks really cool!! I can't wait to try this with leather!!

Archeopteryx box

It took me a little over an hour to and trace the fossil.  It looks so much better though!
After the laser engraved the fossil shape, it is now outlining the shape to pop out.

BAM! That looks awesome!  Happy Birthday Mom!
P.S. sorry its late :p

Foam Hand Mixer Models

Making models of my futuristic hand model with pink foam.
Im glad pink foam is easy to shape..
Weeks later..
On a drive back from Tucson To Phoenix I was thinking, if my mixer was featured in one of those weird Modern Touch magazines, what would it look like?

LIKE THIS!!!!   weird looking!

Archeopteryx coasters

Experimenting with this design. I took a photo of a Tech friend making coasters with this fossil on it. I showed my mom and she had to have one too.

Im not sure how the first guy did it, but I found the jpg of the fossil on Google.
They didn't come out perfect so I will have to try again later.
unfortunately for me her birthday is tomorrow :/

Cuebone skull

The All Souls Procession is upon us once again! I really wanted to find a skull stl. file that I could wear on my head.. No such luck! which is super annoying. and Im not that good to make one on my own yet. But I stumbled upon a Pokemon skull.

Im learning this new 3D app called 123Dmake. I put the STL. file in it and enlarged it quite a bit to fit over my head.
So far so good. There were a few printing mistakes. Everyone in the Tech Shop thought I was a bear... :/ Cue bone is actually a dinosaur skull.
It looks more like Cuebone painted white. I had to find a specialty paint that wouldn't destroy cardboard when painted.
The parade was AMAZING! I was shocked to see how many Pokemon fans I ran into. Strangers would shout "Hey Cuebone!" I didn't run into anyone who thought I was a bear. :)
Next year I want to make a deer head with antlers

Haunted House room Done!

My Room is done! and not a second to spare!

photo of the levitating disks
All the levitating disks and the autopsy table

I am dressed like Giorgio Tsoukalos, checking out the scene

 Alien printing pods
My room had an actor dressed like an alien inside.  The room itself was quite popular.

I thank Erin Christiansen for the opportunity to create a whole themed room. The experience is was amazing :)

Area 51 sign

These are the last of the Halloween house signs.. I am really digging this Area 51 sign.

I felt like I had seen the sign that I wanted to remake on the internet.. I could not find anything. So I took a similar image, and the image I had in my mind and married them.

I would love to have this sign in my room

In the background are my Alien levitating disks
I wanted to make a really cool sign for Guy Atchley. my only regrets were the children's faces (cant see them) and I wish I had put a hole at the top for hanging. There really is no way to hang this sign, unless it has tape. But I have no time to fix this CAUSE ITS HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Wolverine tags

Inspired by X-men. I had to make a wolverine tag. One that is etched on both sides. Also I changed the shape of the tag to a shield.
Using the template idea from the latest Superman tag. I am able to position the tag in the middle and flip it around, and keep its position on the cutting plate.

I also love the look of another color behind it. This brown is pretty but its just paper that will come off soon.

I tried 3 different patterns and interviewed the people around me, and on snapchat and Instagram. Everyone loved the tag on the right the most.
